“This time, I’d like like to think about 3 point through making 2 volumes.

1.The gallery trying to stay white.
2.Being supported a pillar and supporting a pillar.
3.Space between pillars.

I have named these volume “Wood(Main)” regarding it as something less than a pillar. Nevertheless, since it is certainly made of wood, the name is fitting."

About "Wood(Main)"

At present, there are 2 objects in the gallery that look like pillars. We will call these pillar-like objects "Wood(Main)"

Gallery Omotesando ROJI Plan

No matter the shape or size of gallery, as viewer, we allways wish to look at the works without worrying about the gaze of others.
The two "Wood(Main)"s are placed as elements that adjust the distance between viewer, artists, and those who simply pass by outside.

Gallery net drawing

"Wood(Main)"s are positioned as elements of gallery spae, it will be finished ina manner consistent its surroundings. However, looking aroud at the walls and ceiling, eace surface look different.

"Wood(Main)" elevation

Therefore, I decided to apply different finishes to each side of "Wood(Main)" as well.

Outer "Wood(Main)" detail-elevation

The “Wood (Main)” positioned in front of the door will be covered on all four sides with wallpaper, echoing the existing walls. Wallpaper was selected in the hope that extending the gallery toward the front could generate a perception of depth.

Inner "Wood(Main)" detail-elevation

I had also considered to applying wallpaper to interior “Wood (Main)” as well, however since this is located center of the gallery, any new wallpaper stand out againgst the existing walls. I thus made a finish that appears to be wallpaper while not actually being so, replicating its texture using a wet material. Consequently, the rear “Wood (Main)”'s finish is fake of wallpaper-but it is made of real plaster.

By the way, there is one hole in the rear “Wood (Main)”. What can you see from there?
